Becoming

Who I Am and Who I’ll Be

I stand between the boy I was
and the man I have yet to become,
with yesterday fading quietly
and tomorrow beating like a distant drum.

The world no longer seems so simple;
there are shadows beneath the light,
questions hiding in ordinary moments,
and battles fought beyond the sight.

I carry dreams I rarely speak of,
afraid they might be torn apart,
yet I guard them like burning embers
deep within a restless heart.

My failures follow close behind me,
whispering names I cannot forget,
but every scar becomes a lesson,
and every loss is not the end yet.

I have learned that strength is silent,
not always measured by a fight;
sometimes courage means continuing
when there is no promise things will be right.

My friends are stars along the journey,
brightening roads I walk alone;
through laughter, arguments, and memories,
they make unfamiliar places home.

Perhaps I am not meant to have
every answer at this age.
Perhaps becoming who I’m meant to be
is written slowly, page by page.

So let the future wait before me,
let uncertainty remain;
I will walk through every storm I meet
and rise beyond the rain.

For I am more than who I’ve been,
yet less than who I’ll be—
a restless soul still learning
what it truly means to be free.
